Reusable, locally-produced face-masks in Arua

Munguchi Medical Center embarked on the local production of reusable and washable face masks in Arua to protect persons against the COVID-19 infection. The initiative contributed to solving the problem of limited access to face masks and their affordability in Uganda. The medical Center partnered with West Nile Garments and made 500 reusable face masks which were distributed to health workers, village health teams, and clients seeking health services from their medical facilities. The masks are made of two-layer cotton fabric with a filter material polypropylene placed between the two layers. This improves particulate filtration efficiency and bacterial filtration efficiency and provides 95% protection against the penetration of microorganisms.
