Solar Milling Solutions

Solutions for refugee and host communities

Partners: Power Trust Uganda, INNOVEX Uganda Limited, Whitaker Peace and Development Initiative, AGSOL Kenya Limited

Goal: The partners propose to provide an environmentally and health-friendly solar milling solution where refugees and host communities can mill cassava, cereals such as maize which is a staple food across the area. Given that most humanitarian organizations distribute maize seeds alongside other cereals, they find it difficult to look for affordable and reliable milling services within their settlement therefore they end up being exploited by middle men who charge them exorbitantly - this alternative solution would use a PayGo model.
