Somalia Awarded Best Accelerator Ecosystem, Received by SomRIL

“Somalia stands out among the seed African contender ecosystems (ranked between 101-119), showcasing the best performance in the number of accelerators. This achievement highlights Somalia’s growing support infrastructure for startups and its commitment to fostering entrepreneurial growth.“

SomRIL received the award by StartupBlink recognizing Somalia as the Best Accelerator Ecosystem among the seed African ecosystems. “We at Somali Response Innovation Lab are always inspired by the incredible work and relentless effort of Somali innovators to push the boundaries and making the difference in the lives of the most vulnerable. With this recognition, you can see that the ecosystem is resilient, entrepreneurial, and impact-driven despite fragile settings where we all operate-in.", said our Team Lead at SomRIL, Utsav Kharel.

The Startup Ecosystem Awards by StartupBlink recognizes the achievements of startup ecosystems in StartupBlink’s algorithm, acknowledging stakeholders such as government agencies, chambers of commerce, startup support organizations, and international organizations contributing to the development of successful startup ecosystems.

At SomRIL, we seek to create and apply effective innovations to enhance the impact of humanitarian and development interventions to improve the resilience of the Somali people. This is achieved through providing a supportive and safe environment where NGOs, the private sector, UN agencies, government and academia can share specific challenges they face when delivering humanitarian and resilience programming, and identify innovative solutions which can be brought to scale. The SomRIL is hosted under the Somali Resilience Program (SomReP), which is a consortium of seven NGOs – World Vision, Action Against Hunger, ADRA, Care, COOPI, Danish Refugee Council and Oxfam. With bases in Mogadishu and Nairobi, we bring together a range of different actors working on significantly bettering outcomes for Somalis.
